You would think

You would think that with the vast knowledge we have for technology that the Internet here at my office could have been fixed before 3 when they've known about it since 9:50 but no, that's completely not the case. Can we say frustrating??! Fourth of July can't come soon enough, 3 day weekend--- loooovvveee them!

J bought me flowers and a card yesterday, still keeping our romance alive! I love him! I also love our wedding pictures! I figured I would share some of my favorites :)

My parents are hilarious, I never thought they'd actually dance into my reception like I wanted :)

NGU peeps and the majority of my blogger friends, love them :)

Yodle lay he who...?

Friday I was offered a job at Yodle as a Marketing Consultant and today I will be accepting the position! J and I have been praying for a long time about where I needed to be career wise, I haven't been happy at The Herald in very long time--- sadly, print advertising in rapidly falling by the wayside. This job fell straight from Jesus and into my lap, and we couldn't be more excited for a new hapter in my career. It's kind of bittersweet to leave The Herald, after all they did give me a start right out of college and for that I'll be forever grateful.

The wedding pictures came in on Saturday and I literally ran out to meet the mailman as he put them in our box, J thought I was nuts! They are better than I could have ever dreamed they would be, Brett Seay is fabulous! I'll be posting them online soon so keep a look out :)

J bought me a kayak this weekend!! Another Craigslist purchase I might add. It's hot pink, ha. We've decided we want to become more active and get outside more. We're trying to find J a kayak now, fingers crossed we will soon. He's the best husband ever, just throwing that out there!

So last night even though I realize now I shouldn't have, I watched Marley & Me. Worst Decision, ever. The first time I watched it I was not a pet owner. And obviously if you've read this blog EVER you know I'm now a dog mom and I cried like you wouldn't believe throughout the whole movie. Even though it was more of a sobfest than anything else, I really love the story that shows how couples go through a lot, nothing turns out as we planned-- it turns out better and how a dog is so loving throughout everything that happens...

"A dog has no use for fancy cars or big homes or designer clothes. Status symbol means nothing to him. A waterlogged stick will do just fine. A dog judges others not by their color or creed or class but by who they are inside. A dog doesn't care if you are rich or poor, educated or illiterate, clever or dull. Give him your heart and he will give you his." -John Grogan

We love our mutt :) he makes our family whole

TGIF, TGIF, TGIF... oh Katy Perry

I got into my car to head to work and the new Katy Perry song was on, "Last Friday Night" it made me so excited that to day is FRIDAY! We're having Dana, Patrick and baby Whit over for dinner tonight :) I'm thinking Taco's are on the menu, but we'll see.

Biggest news of the day: Our wedding pictures will hopefully be here tomorrow! Brett just text me letting me know she's putting them in the mail this morning and she posted a sneak peak photo again on my Facebook this morning!

Oh I love my husband :) and Brett Seay Photography

Craigslist decided not to let me down and we got our storm door yesterday afternoon for $90 the only thing we have to do is spray paint it black. Not too shabby, considering we looked at buying this same one and it was over $250 in Lowes. I swear this whole blog could be about our Craigslist purchases, aka how to make a house a home via Craigslist. We've had great success and $avings using the site, praise the Lord! It makes me never want to pay full price for anything. Pictures to come soon, J was very tired last night and I knew that pictures of the door were out of the question. He spent the day skeet shooting with a client and came in 2nd place out of 50 guys AND he got the account for the company! I'm so proud of him :)

I'm ready for the weekend, this has felt like the longest week in a while. Fingers crossed I'll get some good news soon that I can share! What are you doing this weekend? J's sister is having a shower this weekend so we're headed to that on Sat. night and church on Sunday morning, it's looking like it's going to be a slow kind of weekend. Those are the kind I LOVE!

Summer Highlight

Summer is officially here and my hair dresser is back from vacation, soooooo I got some highlights for the summer :) Man it's been a while since I've had lighter hair, remember in February when I did this....?

Not much to report this week on the house front, there's been a lull in decorating. J took me a hot date last night to Red Bowl, we realized that they have a very limited Sushi menu so we opted for Spicy Tangerine Beef and Bourbon Chicken. J was not impressed with the Bourbon chicken and says we won't be going back there for date night anymore.

We've also decided, well J more than I, that we're going to buy kayak's. We went and explored down at RiverWalk after dinner and this affirmed J's desire for kayak's even more. So, I hit up Craigslist and we found some great deals. Fingers crossed they'll come through like most of our purchases from there do. The only one we've had a problem with so far is a guy selling a glass door that we LOVE will not call us back to go and pick it up this week. Sighhhhh....

We Red Boxed after RiverWalk with Battle of Los Angeles. I was really impressed with the movie honestly, not a ton of computer graphics done so things looked legit. I would recommend watching this with your guy if he's into war, Call of Duty, shooting guns, etc. It'll probably score you some points :) I liked it, but then again I'm into 'boy' movies about 95% of the time.

Chocolate Molten Cupcakes

I made Chocolate Molten Cupcakes for my Dad and Father in Law for Father's Day. Aren't they cute? They're a bit late seeing as I was sick on Sunday but J got one last night and LOVED them! Hopefully our Dad's will too. I took Dark Chocolate cake mix (I want to learn to make cupcakes from scratch but man those boxes make it easy) and I put a Hersey's kiss in the middle while they were baking, added chocolate icing once they were finished cooling and cut up strawberries to look like hearts for a little flair. It was a fun project last night, J really appreciated them too.

The best of

Sorry I've been MIA this past week, it's been a bit busy and I haven't wanted to write. J and I have finished several projects this weekend and I can't wait to show them to you but I haven't taken pictures so you'll just have to wait to see them :)

This past week, some of The Herald staff attended the 2011 PALMY awards luncheon where Sue (my designer for ads) and I won the Best of Show awards for newspapers under 6,000 circulation!

Accepting our award!

The Herald and our weekly papers won 38 total awards :) Read about it on Heraldonline

Buddy Dog is getting really big! I can't believe he'll be a year old in the next few months :)

Writer's block

It seems I've come across some writer's block recently...

Isn't this kitchen amazing? I LOVE the black and brown cabinents.

Jake and Stacey's wedding was this past weekend, it was amazing!!

My next project: 1/2 bathroom. Got this cute towel rack for $5 at Marshalls.

Dining Room

One of my first purchases for the house was a dining room table I found on Craigslist for a steal- $150.
4 seater, glass top with wooden base. Minus a few scratches on the chairs and A LOT of scratches on the chair seats, it was in mint condition to be 5 years old.

As you can, the previous owner had cats and they clawed at the seats. Nothing too terrible. I bought the table knowing I would be recovering the seats :)

Memorial Day weekend, my MIL (mother in law) and I went shopping for fabric and found this gorgeous neutral taupe on SALE for $4 a yard! We learned last night that 4 yards was wayyyyy too much fabric we only needed 2 yards, oh well.

We set out to finish the project last night!! My MIL brought over the staple gun and some Chinese and we went to work on the chairs. J was a huge help, honestly men are just better with tools than women are. Instead of taking off the older fabric we just covered it up with the new stuff- a trick I learned from my Mom who has recovered her share of chairs in my parent's dining room. Sadly, I forgot to take a picture of the finish product that will come later.

I want these for my dining room, they'll complete the whole room! Now if only I can find them on sale...

I'm excited to get off work today I'm having dinner with Kristin and Nikki, can't wait to catch up with them :)
