Trading Spaces

Day 6 - A picture of a person you'd love to trade places with for a day.

If for only a day, I would love to see my Grandmother's outlook on life and her faith in the Lord.
PS I'm sure you've noticed that I haven't posted one of these everyday since I only write this blog during the week, so please excuse the lateness of this one since I didn't post on Friday.

Wedding update: We finished up marriage counseling yesterday afternoon, I'm starting to get beyond excited about the wedding now!! We discussed the set up, the line up, etc. yesterday and it's so nice to see how things are coming together! There's a possibility we might be looking for a guitar player so if anyone knows of a good one please let me know!

I'm also looking for suggestions for music for when the mother's and grandmother's walk down the isle, when the bridal party comes in and when J and I leave. I'm struggling to find songs I like...

Bridal portriats are THIS Friday. I get to wear my dress for longer than 15 minutes at my fittings, yay! I'm praying for no rain, clouds and all sunshine since the forecast is calling for chances of showers and an overcast sky. Please say a prayer if you think about it!

Day 5

Photo Challenge Day 5 -A picture of your favorite memory

I have a bazillion memories with friends and family and since I've featured them a lot during this challenge I wanted to feature something a little different since this one is pretty high up on the list of memories too... laying out the newspaper every Monday night with my amazing staff of editors my last semester of college. Oh The Skyliner... I loved being editor and doing layout and coming up with story ideas.

Hump Day

So...Happy Hump Day Bloggers! I'm glad this week is pretty much half way over, its been a stressful and very long week so far. I'm ready for church on Sunday!

I mailed out my bridal shower invites today, geeze stamps are expensive. I also figured out how many invites for the actual wedding we're mailing out and man oh man the printing is cheap in comparison to the postage we'll spend. Oh well, I'm only doing this once so it's worth it.

Season 6 is on DVD now and I want it baaadddd since we don't get Showtime
I would even take it as a wedding present, just saying.

Day 04 - A picture of your favorite night
Whelp... there's a lot so I'm going to give you the highlight reel through a few.

The night Ashley and I started hanging out with Amber & Stephanie. I'm so sad Stephanie wasn't in this picture. This night is basically the most epic night of college since it basically changed the course of my last two years there, in a fantastic way I might add.
The night of Jessi's impromptu bachlorette party the night before her wedding. We took her to a karaoke bar in Greenville, we had the best time because we were basically the only people in the place.
One of the first nights J came to see me in Greenville after we started dating. He wanted to take pictures of us and walk through the park! One of my absolute favorite first memories of us from the beginning of our relationship.
The night some of J's friends came to Greenville to see Brantley Gilbert at the Handlebar. Mind you this was the first time I really met any of his friend's so it was a very, very big deal for me since a.) the concert was at the Handlebar, this was basically a forbidden place for NGU student's to go to and b.) first time meeting the boyfriends best friend Jake and his girlfriend at the time Stacey.
The night J proposed to me was the single most romantic night of my life, so far at least. He's a pretty romantic guy but only with me of course ;) Candles, roses everywhere! And his sweet proposal asking me to grow old with him, I'll never ever forget it.
So I know these are out of order but I HAD to put this on here. We went to the beach in 2008 for Stephanie's birthday and one night we went to a bar called Knuckle Heads and had one of the best times together ever, from hanging out with people who are our parent's ages to Ashley giving out dollars to Stephanie to play Justin Timberlake on the jukebox thingy, it was incredible. Life was so simple then. My how things have changed.

Progress

So, we're making more progress with the wedding which is so very exciting to me! We booked our DJ for the wedding reception. It's actually kind of funny, he was a teacher at my high school and we always called him Doc Williams, he DJed both prom's I went to. Out of all the DJ's Missy and I have talked to he had the best package avaliable and I think he's going to be great to work with. If you're in need a of a DJ call on Williams Entertainment , they do all kinds of events. My favorite part about them is that they can download songs on site in case they didn't have one when they take requests. None of the other guys I spoke with could do that so it was a BIG plus. And, they gave J a beer mug at the bridal show yesterday which was neat. They weren't out to suck the bride in with a nice gift, they were out there for the groom.

Yesterday when I got home I saw that UPS had stopped by with a package that was down in the apartment complex main building, it was our invitation paper I got from Envelope Mall which was recommended by Sheila who designed our invites for us! Since I shop online so much you would think that I would have already had to return something by now, but I've never had to til now. Since the envelopes weren't the color I thought they were I'm going to exchange them for a different color. Wish me luck!

Officially as of yesterday our mortgage broker let us know that we can close a week early. This means that in 10 days as long as things go smoothly we'll be homeowners. Well technically that means the bank owns us for the next 30 years haha. Oh the joys and responsibilities of being an adult!

Spring is definately in the air, J starts softball practice tonight and he is so excited about it. He loves playing any and all sports that deal balls, I know that one we have a babies he'll praying that they'll be athletes and I'm like 100% sure that we'll be THOSE parent's who go to every single game rain or shine cheering on our little person.

Yesterday I had the overwhelming urge to go sit in the grass or on a swing since it was so nice and breezy out, it made me miss college. My college had swings every where and according to some each swing meant something different, for example if you sat on a certain swing by the Chapel building it was called the 'Marriage Swing' and you were for sure going to marry the person you sat in the swing with. Good grief right?
Well, I basically sat on the swings with these girls...A lot.

Anyways, back to wedding stuff.

On Friday, I bought a few more necessary items for the wedding from Etsy and I can't wait to get to the mailbox everyday this week to see them! I love Etsy, such a great tool for brides on a budget who want custom made pieces! I also happened to have the most brilliant idea for my bridal portriats but I can't share it since its a surprise for J. I can't wait to take them in two weeks!

Bridal Bouquets is supplying us with Push Pins for the Bouquets, 30 for $2.99.

SuppliesBySusan is supplying us with 50 ft of silver ribbon for the bouquets for $10.75 plus shipping

Lost Pemberly Designs designed a lovely garter for me, but I'm keeping that a secret til the wedding of course :) Please check out their store's to see what they have to offer!

Saturday I had my trial hair run with Shea and can I just brag on her? She did so amazing! I can't wait for my bridal portriats or the wedding for her to fix my hair! She took my idea and my hair piece and just worked a miracle with my short hair :) We also set up appointments for the girls and myself the day of the wedding.

Yesterday after church, I worked a bridal show for the Herald at the Tega Cay Golf Course and I think it was a success! I had a lot of fun, it reminded me of my days at the Cliffs waiting on the members honestly. I miss that job a lot. But I met a DJ there that I really liked for the wedding BUT J wants to price out one he knows and Missy got the prices for the DJ that did her Christmas party. Things are slowly coming together. Hurry up April 30th!

Home

We got an email from our mortgage broker yesterday letting us know that there is a distinct possibility that we can close on the house a week early. Praise the Lord! I'm really hoping that we get the chance to close early.

Welcome to our home. Isn't it beautiful?

Ephesians 3:20-21Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen

It needs a little work, but we're so excited to be able to fix things ourselves and make our first home the best it can be for us. I've been thinking of making this blog about all of the thing we will do to the house, sort of our journey through a first home. The entire home buying experience has been pretty easy, unlike what we had heard before. My Dad and his team of people over at Allen Tate have been great so far. Keep us in your prayers as we move forward with this huge and very monumental step we are taking :)

Stuck

Well, today I've been thinking that I want my blog to be about something. So here's my thought process today:
  1. The most interesting blogs I've ever read have always had a theme of sorts that they stick to.
  2. Originally this blog was about our wedding and I decided to only write about our adventures through the planning process but it has become literally about our everyday life along with wedding planning.
  3. Well, I don't think that's for much of a good read after the wedding. Everyone and their brother has a blog about their life...
  4. I want to blog about something more, something different, something that makes for a good read to people and is half way intersting.
  5. Big question now, what am I going to blog about?
Like my friend Amanda, she has an intersting blog that has a point. It's about writing and being an author. She's always loved to write, ever since we were little and I applaud her efforts to keep up her blog about her thoughts as an author as well as following what she's always wanted to do.

Or my blogger friend, Christina. Well actually, I stalk her blog religiously because I love her posts about eating healthy, working out, and her obssession with Chick Fil A. I wish I could be more like her but we aren't 'real' blogger friends. (PS Chick Fil A will always hold a place in my heart, they employed me for 3 years)

Or like my roomate Stephanie, she always blogs about the Bible and Jesus and our church, Elevation and it's always very encouraging or thought provoking. I just don't have the gift of words like she does, she's very smart and it shows. That's why she's going to grad school this summer.

     6. Well, let's see, what have I always wanted to do?

Design and layout on a Mac. All things in print of course, like magazines or newspapers or brochures. Get married. Be a mom. Go to Grad School. Have a career that I love. Wear heels to work everyday. Love Jesus with all my heart. Open up a bakery named Mousse Kisses. Create my own online company.

I don't know, I think I'm rambling now. But I am thinking hard about the blog, and where I want it to go from here.

VD

Well, Valentine's Day has come and gone and I don't feel any different than I did on Sunday except that J got me a Jewelry box! I'm going to exchange it for another one but I love the idea, he said he wanted to get me one that I would keep until we're old and he'll fill it with jewelry, yes!

I realized yesterday that this is our 3rd Valentine's day together, my how the time has flown by. Time used to drag by and sometimes it still does when I'm at work BUT since I've been with J its like time has gone too fast.

Anyways, we didn't do much last night. We did what we normally do, I make us a fancy dinner and we just hang out :) we like to keep it low key!

Appetizer- Parmesan Baguette's with Marinara Sauce

Dinner- Balsamic Steak, Parmesan Broccoli and Long Grain Wilde Rice, so yummy!

Dessert- I was so proud of this! A few months ago we went to my grandmother's and she had been sent some Edible Arrangements: Chocolate covered Strawberries and Apples. Sooo, I took their idea and did it myself for a whole lot cheaper. J was super excited about these. I used 1 Golden Delicious Apple and 1 Granny Smith, J loved the Golden Delicious while I was more partial to the Granny Smith.

If anyone wants any of these recipes, let me know! Everything turned out fantastic and was sort of healthy too, ha. Have a good Tuesday Bloggers!

Beloved

"I am my beloved's, and my beloved is mine..." -Song of Solomon 6:3

Happy Valentine's Day bloggers!

You're worth every penny...

Praise the Lord it's Friday. This has been the single longest week in a while, things have seemed to drag by! J suggested we go to Charlotte tonight for date night and stop and leave my car at my Grandma's on the way out, so I'm pretty excited about tonight even though I'm not sure what we're doing I'm going with it, J never disappoints me :) Tomorrow we're celebrating Todd's 21st birthday, Todd is one of the Groomsmen in our wedding. We're all pretty excited that Todd's turning 21 since he's the last one in our friend circle to turn 21! I'm pretty excited for church on Sunday too since we're going to be watching the documentary of how our church was founded! Come to Elevation church on Sunday if you don't have a home church, I promise you'll be encouraged and come back the next week :)

On Wednesday night this week I caught the end of The Wedding Date on ABC Family, I had forgotten how much I love that movie. I danced around my room with Buddy to all of the 'lovey dovey' Michael Buble songs, try your hardest not to judge me please! I think my dog thought I was insane since I don't normally do that.

Kat: "Nothing that a bottle of Jack and a straight razor won't fix."

Nick: "The hardest thing is loving someone and then having the courage to let them love you back."

Kat: "You know what pisses me off? I've been spilling my guts all weekend and I don't know a thing about you." Nick: "I'm allergic to fabric softener. I majored in comparative literature at Brown. I hate anchovies. And I think I'd miss you even if we never met."

Do any of my blogger friends have plans for the weekend? Let me hear from you :)

Holy Cow

Please go and check out The Bakerella, she's now my new baking hero! AND she's been featured on Martha Stewart. I want to make one of her recipies for favors for my bridal shower... hmmm... thoughts?

Aren't these little guys adorable?

Honor

I can't wait for this week to be over, it's been a long one already and its only Thursday morning. J is finally back at work, which means I get to see him tonight! Bloggers, how have you been?

Anyways, I wanted you to meet my two honorary bridesmaids :)

Meet Amber. We met when I was a sophomore and she was a junior, we lived in the same building. the next year she was one of my suitemates and for the second portion of my senior year she lived on me and Ashley's apartment floor every weekend. She's a third grade teacher in Lowell and lives in Gastonia with her roomate and her cat Alice. Her cat is named after the Twilight character, there will be no judgement's. As you can see above we're supporting Team Jacob and Team Edward :)

Meet Amanda. We grew up in church together from the time we were small til we graduated from high school. We've always had the same interests, lived close to each other and supported each other through a lot. Once we graduated high school we both went in opposite directions, she went to Virginia Beach and I went to Greenville but we always stayed connected. I was lucky enough to be in her wedding in 2009! She and her husband Tamer (pronounced Tame-her, I had a the hardest time learning how to say his name when she started dating him) live in Tulsa, OK. Which is WAY too far away.

Pearly Whites

I went to the dentist yesterday and I'm so proud to say that I have no cavtities, 24 years strong! Although Dr. Montley said I needed to work on my flossing, I need to make it a habit I guess.

J has been really sick the past few days with some form of this awful flu that is going around. I've only seen him about 25 minutes total since Monday since he doesn't want me to get sick. I left Buddy over there yesterday to keep him company, but it seems that Buddy doesn't do well with J being sick and got into some mischief. Needless to say, he had to stay at my house today because of that. J's boss told him to stay home again today even though he was going to try to go in but Eddie doesn't want him getting all the other Project Managers sick. Please say a prayer that he'll get better soon!

As of today, 2 months and 21 days til the wedding AND 30 days til we close on the house!

Green & Yellow plus a recap

Congrats to Green Bay for their win last night!

J's bet- 54 with Green Bay Winning
My bet- 59 with Steelers winning
Actual Total Score- 56 with Green Bay Winning

Saturday was spent with 3 of my bridesmaids going to try on wedding dresses to verify sizes and such and let the other 4 know what sizes to order off line. Allie is wearing the tea length dress with the one shoulder which I really, really like on her. We thought the dress would be hard to figure out, it was actually pretty easy to style into what we wanted. The back is pretty cool too! Stephanie is wearing the correct color although the light doesn't do it justice to how pretty it is! I'm starting to get even more excited the wedding! All the girls seemed really pleased with my choice of dress and that makes me exstatic!

I was browsing the web today and figured out what dress I want my flower girl Erica to wear :) Yay! We're going to get this in tangerine with ivory trim. Erica is a little older than most flower girls, she's 12. I used to babysit her when I was in Junior High and High School. Hopefully she'll like the dress!

Giveaway

Check out Jessica Lynn Originals for a chance to win her new stamp collection for spring!

I met her on Etsy and ordered a return address stamp for our wedding invitation with our new address on them and an ink pad from her, I'm supposed to get them this week and I can't wait! Check out her shop- JLMould to see what she has to offer!

This is what ours will look like, cute huh?

Busy week

It's been a busy week and J and I haven't seen much of each other
but this weekend I get to spend time with this handsome fella :)
I get to marry him in less than 3 months, lucky me!

Happy weekend Bloggers!

Thursday, February 3, 2011

I don't know the perfect conversation...

Happy Thursday Bloggers! Its almost the weekend and I am so excited for this weekend, there is some wedding stuff in store :) Today has been a Dave Barnes Pandora Playlist kind of day, its been a fun day so far!

Dress fitting number dos is happening this afternoon! Fingers crossed we got a little closer to the fit I want, Mrs. Eleanor called and said she thinks she got it.

Friday night we're taking Buddy over to meet Dana and Patrick's dog Tucker. I guess you could call it a Doggie Play date, ha. I'm excited to spend some time with Dana and Patrick; Patrick is one of the groomsmen and J was in their wedding as well. They're about to become parents in March to baby Whit, I'm so excited for them!!

Saturday, Stephanie, Rachel, Allie and I will headed to Charlotte to try on Bridesmaids dresses and get those ordered and out of the way. I LOVE the dresses I picked, so far all of the girls have said they liked the dress too. The only concern is how to make the dress fit each lady properly- as you can see, I want each bridesmaid to have a different style! The dress is made by The Dessy Group and is called the Twist Dress- they'll be wearing the tea length one in concord purple. I'm thinking of ordering one for myself, we'll see.

This Sunday is Superbowl Sunday and Jake and Stacey are throwing a house warming super bowl party! I'm making my sausage rotel dip for the party, hopefully its a success :)

Well, will it be the Packers....
Or the Steelers?
What do you think bloggers?

Happy February 2nd

It's Ground Hog Day Bloggers and apparently Spring is coming early this year! Today it feels spectacular here in the Thrill.

So many things are happening this week for us. J got a new car last night, its a 2007 Ford Fusion and we got a really sweet deal on it! He's just thrilled ot have heat and a working door handle, the poor Expedition he has been driving is going down hill. But its been a great car for us this far, so thankful his parents have loaned it to us since we graduated!

We got the termite inspection back on the house and everything checks out perfectly except for a spot on the back of the house that we already knew about. We'll fix it before we move in. As of today we have 38 days til J moves into our humble abode!

At work we had a quarterly meeting to wrap up 2010 and get started with 2011. Although the meeting was informative it wasn't so much encouraging, but hey I did win a prize Ground Hog Day the movie ha! Email has been down ALL DAY LONG, which is very frustrating. I'm praying it will be up by tomorrow!

PS Blogger won't let me upload pictures today for some reason, awesome.

Dum, dum, duh dummm

Holy cow, its already February Bloggers!

I thought it would only be suiting for you all to meet my bridesmaids and know a little a bit about each one and how we became friends :)

Meet my little sister Allie she's one of three of my maids of honor.
Let's go with the obvious to say that I've know her since the day she was born. She's 16 and she wants to be a missionary when she grows up, I couldn't be more proud of her!
Meet Ashley, aka Red or Blacky or Diane (college nicknames) she's another maid of honor. We met as Freshman at North Greenville and until I moved back to Rock Hill, we were basically inseparable. We lived in the dorms together, Hartness 7 and got an apartment together in Greenville our senior year. She's one of my very best friends, we've been through a lot and although things change I know that our friendship never will. She's one of those lifelong friends that God places in your life. She still lives in Greenville and has a doggie named Boozer.
Meet Meredith, my oldest friend in the world. She's also a maid of honor. We grew up in Church together at Big Central in Charlotte and once we almost teenagers our families joined Little Rock together. We were both on a mime team, worship dance group and bible quizzing together. Her mom used to call me their 7th child because I was over there so much. She lives in Wilmington now finishing up at UNCW.
Meet Stephanie aka Fresh (college nickname) my current roomate! First off you should know that if it weren't for her, J and I wouldn't even be getting married. She's the genius that thought to introduce us!
Stephanie and I met my sophomore year in college and we were suitemates my junior year and her senior year, she lived in Hartness 8. We've lived in an apartment in Rock Hill since 2009. She works in mental health using her Psych degree from good ole' North Greenville. She loves the Beatles, hence the appropriate picture above. Fresh and Cheyanne (my nickname)
Meet Rachel :) she's the closest friend I've made since moving back to Rock Hill a few years ago. She is my shopping buddy, and we were companions along with Stephanie when J worked out of town and when her boyfriend was in army training this past spring, summer and fall. She just got engaged, see the ring in the picture? We love to watch Thursday night TV together- Grey's Anatomy, Jersey Shore and Private Practice.
Meet Jessi Hardin Crippin. Yes I used both of her last names because that's what I always call her since she got married two years ago. I was one of the lucky 10 ladies to be in her and Kris' wedding :) We met Freshman year, she was my first friend and roomate in college. She moved to New Orlean so Kris could go to seminary and I am so sad she is so far away. She kept me sane during a very hard time during college and I couldn't be more grateful for that.
Finally, meet my sister in law Jessica. Of course we didn't meet til after Jeremy and I started dating. Although I did see her through a car window on me and J's second date when his card died and she had to pick him up. She had huge curlers in her hair :) She goes to Liberty University and recently got engaged and is getting married in August of this year.
